Maddie Heilbrun Announces Verbal Commitment to Harvard

Two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Maddie Heilbrun, a senior at The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, has made a verbal commitment to the application process at Harvard University.* She will join Marcella Ruppert-Gomez, Mikki Thompson, and Samantha Shelton, who have all announced their verbal commitments to the class of 2022 as well.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to study and swim at Harvard, and to join such an amazing team! GO CRIMSON!!”

Heilbrun was runner-up in both the 200 IM (2:03.70) and 100 free (51.85) at the 2017 VISAA Swimming & Diving Championship. She also anchored two first-place relays: 4×50 free (23.77) and 4×100 free (51.71), helping Madeira achieve a third-place team finish in the girls’ meet.

Heilbrun does her club swimming with Nation’s Capital Swim Club. She specializes in 200/400 IM and 200 back. She competed at Winter Nationals last December, reaching the C final of the 400 IM. During LCM season, she dropped 3.6 seconds to achieve a World Trials cut in the 400 IM at the beginning of the summer. She competed at NCSA Summer Championship, reaching the A final of the 200 back with a PBx1.3 seconds. She was also a D finalist in the 100 back and 200 IM, and swam a leg on NCAP’s winning 4×100 free relay.
