It didn’t take long to get the pool warmed up in Minnesota tonight. Michigan senior Maggie MacNeil jumped out to a body length lead in the fastest heat 200 medley relay, and when results finally rolled in, the clock showed that she had led off in a scorching 23.06.
MacNeil owns the fastest time in history with her time of 23.02 from last season’s Big Ten Championships. MacNeil has also been 23.05, meaning that she’s been 23.0 on at least three occasions, while no one else in history has been under 23.3.
WOMEN’S 50 BACK – TOP PERFORMERS ALL-TIME
- Maggie MacNeil – 23.02
- Katharine Berkoff –23.27
- Gretchen Walsh – 23.33
- Rhyan White – 23.35
- Rachel Bootsma – 23.36
- Natalie Coughlin – 23.41
- Cindy Tran – 23.44
At the 2021 NCAA Championships, MacNeil led off this relay in 23.17, but her efforts were almost wasted, as Michigan ultimately finished 16th in 1:37.37 (after having gone 1:36.34 earlier in the season). The Wolverines were substantially faster tonight, however, thanks to freshman Letitia Sim and Lindsay Flynn, who split 26.83 and 21.54 on the breast and free legs, respectively. Michigan’s time of 1:34.91 tonight would’ve placed 3rd at NCAAs last season.
Shouldn’t Gretchen Walsh be 3rd with her dual meet time leading off the 2 medley relay against Texas?
Really wonder if she will swim 100back instead of 50 or 100 free at the ncaa next year since it’s no way she’ll drop fly
Really hope she can get into the 22’s by the end of the season!
Coughlin was out 23.40 in the 100 Fly, going 50.01.
She was out 24.33 in the 100 Back, going 49.97
What are the top 50 fly splits for the ladies? Can’t be a ton faster than Bray’s 22.1?
This is what we had as of last November…
Top 10 All-Time Butterfly Splits, Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay:
Kate Douglass, Virginia – 21.95
Kelsi Dahlia, Louisville – 21.96
Alyssa Marsh, Duke – 22.05
Kelsi Dahlia, Louisville – 22.07
Kelsi Dahlia, Louisville – 22.21
Louise Hansson, USC – 22.23
Hellen Moffitt, UNC – 22.29
Liz Li, Ohio State – 22.32
(TIE) Louise Hansson, USC/Kate Douglass, Virginia – 22.33
Awesome, thanks. Bray was a full SECOND faster than at NCAAs last year, look out, UT ladies look pretty sharp too. Bested both of their relay times from NCAAs.
And no Maggie because she never really gets to do it suited but if she did, she would break 22
Did Gretchen Walsh just go 23.33
Sure did. Added that in too, thanks!
Yep, unsuited
Correction? Meet Mobile has Berkoff at 23.27 at NCAAs last year.
Added that in, thanks!
You also have her listed twice in the rankings.
Coughlin was 23.4 to her FEET?! That’s crazy.
Imagine being a 53 second backstroker in that final and someone is flipping at 23.40. No wedges either.
I’m not sure that’s correct. I thought she was 23.4 on the 2MDR. For her 100, I’m pretty sure she can be back in 25 something. She could finish a 100 back. She didn’t split 23.4/26.5. She was 24 low/25 mid-high.
No second 50
