The Maria Lenk Trophy will be held from April 6th-11th in Rio and with just over a week to go the CBDA has published the first draft of the competition’s start lists.
As always Alex Pussieldi of bestswimming.com has some amazing insights into the the meet and some of the most interesting facts that presented themselves in the start lists.
One of the most interesting points to note is that the maximum number of individual events that an athlete can race at the six day competition is four.
There will be 335 swimmers, representing 38 different teams at the meet. 35 are foreign competitors which includes national teams from Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Out of the 35 foreign athletes nine of them currently train in Brazil.
One team from America, Auburn, will be represented at the meet in force by Brazilians Bruno Fratus, Marcelo Chierighini, Felipe Lima, Beatriz Travalon and Arthur Mendes Filho all being lead by one of the team’s assistant coaches Tyler McGill.
Out of the 32 Brazilian teams in the competition the Pinheiros is the largest with 53 swimmers, 29 males and 24 females.
