Backstroker/Butterflier Marie-Pierre Delisle has verbally committed to the UCLA Bruins as Cyndi Gallagher continues down the path of a very deep recruiting class of 2014.
“My sister swam at UCLA, so I’ve always had some bruin in me,” Delisle explained. “I fell in love with the team and school the moment I stepped on campus. I know it will be a place where I can excel both academically and athletically with a great group of teammates by my side.”
She’s referring to her sister Laurence Delisle, who completed her eligibility in the spring of 2013 and was a 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier.
Delisle’s best times in yards are 55.7/1:58.9 in the 100 and 200 backstrokes, and 55.0/2:00.0 in the 100 and 200 butterflies.
Delisle swims for PASA (Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics), and is one of the few this fall it seems to have escaped the powerful recruiting pull of the home-town Stanford Cardinal this fall.
Between Delisle, Jacquelyn Shoults, Kaitlin Grover, and Natalie Amberg, this class has four verbal commitments who have been under 56 seconds in the 100 yard backstroke.
Amberg, though she could swim fly, back or the IM, said she’s happy to swim in any races that will help the team.
Congrats, MP! Go PASA!
