At the midway point of the 2016-17 season, members of the Marist women’s swimming and diving team (5-2, 5-0 MAAC) own the top times in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 15 events. The Red Foxes extended their regular season conference dual meet win streak to 40 with their two victories at the H2ounds Invitational on Dec. 3.

Three Marist relay teams own the fastest times in the conference with the help of junior Sara Nestrowitz. She anchored the 400-yard medley relay squad following classmate Georgia Goldman, freshman Julia Solin, and freshman Jessica Miller to touch in 3:57.69. Senior Meredith Wurtz caps the fastest 400- (3:32.86) and 800-yard freestyle (7:37.05) relay teams. Goldman and junior Deirdre Connor complete the 400-yard foursome, while junior Melanie Newton replaces Goldman in the 800-yard event.

Individually, Nestrowitz has swam the fastest races in the MAAC in the 200- (1:54.54), 500- (5:00.13) and 1,000-yard freestyle (10:38.84). Marist is 1-2-3 in the 500-yard event, as Newton and junior Shannon Gordon are right behind Nestrowitz among the conference’s best. Newton owns top five times in five events while Gordon has clocked in at the third fastest time in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:47.53) and is atop the MAAC in the 1,650-yard event (17:19.37).
