The Marist women’s swimming and diving team remained unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference competition when it took down Rider, 178-122, on Oct. 28.
Marist is now 2-1 overall with its two victories coming in conference meets while Rider feel to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the MAAC.
Senior captain Georgia Goldman won all three individual events in which she competed, clocking in at a season best time of 59.17 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke. She earned a total of 31 points for the Red Foxes after she finished first in the 50- (25.11 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (55.03 seconds).
Senior Sara Nestrowitz also contributed to the strong outing for the Marist captains when she competed successfully at a shorter distance and touched first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.69). Nestrowitz also took the top spot in the 500-yard event (5:12.78) and helped a Marist relay team come from behind to take first place the 400-yard freestyle relay. She was the anchor of the foursome that touched .01 second faster than Rider’s squad to help the Red Foxes win the final event of the meet in 3:43.87.
On the diving boards freshman Esabelle Gervasio was second in the 1-meter event with 225.23 points.
Notes
-Marist distance went 1-2-3 in the 1,000-yard freestyle as freshman Heather Hartmann won the event in 10:38.70 followed by junior Shannon Gordon (10:50.88) and senior Melanie Newton (10:58.05).
-The Red Foxes’ women also finished 1 through 3 in the 500-yard freestyle with Hartmann and Gordon coming in at second and third and respectively behind Nestrowitz.
-Freshman Georgeanne Zimmerman clocked in at the fastest time in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.62).
-Marist’s 400-yard freestyle squad that beat out Rider by .01 second consisted of freshman Samantha Dickinson, freshman Caroline Farrell and senior Deirdre Connor in addition to the anchor in Nestrowitz.
-Rider senior Tara Maniace was on the Broncs’ first place 200-yard medley relay squad and won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.03.

Marist will battle Fairfield in its only dual meet for the month of November. The action will kick off at 1 p.m. Nov. 18 in McCann Natatorium.
