Dan Allen named Pace University Swimming and Diving Head Coach

Pace University Director of Athletics Mark Brown has named Dan Allen as Head Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving programs effective immediately. Allen is the fourth head coach in the program’s 12 year history and takes over a squad that excelled at this past year’s Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

“I want to thanks Director of Athletics Mark Brown and Associate Athletics Director Mike Winn for the opportunity,” said Allen. “I see the potential for continued growth of the program and I am excited to get started at Pace.”

Allen comes to Pace after four seasons as the head coach for Buffalo State College’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs. The men’s team finished with a 3.0 GPA or higher in five of eight semester, while the women’s team achieved that mark in seven of eight semesters.

Prior to coming to Buffalo State, Allen was the head coach at Division II Salem International University for one season. His previous stop includes four seasons as the associate coach at his alma mater, SUNY Geneseo where he assisted in all aspects of the program and coached the distance swimmers. Allen coached 13 NCAA Division III Championship participants that earned 45 All-American certificates at Geneseo and helped guide the teams to a combined six SUNYAC titles. He was part of the coaching staff that was recognized twice as the SUNYAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Allen shined as a four-year member of the Geneseo swimming team. He was a 13-time SUNYAC champion and helped lead the squad to three team titles. He was the SUNYAC Championship Most Outstanding Swimmer in 2005 and participated in the 2004 NCAA Division III Championships. In 2004, he was named the Rochester Area College Swimmer of the Year.

Allen completed his bachelor’s degree in communication from Geneseo in 2006. He is also certified in lifeguarding/first aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and is a water safety instructor trainer.
