HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving team (6-2) won on Senior Day, 208-91, over the Georgia Southern Eagles to close out the regular season at the Fitch on Saturday.

The Herd honored Kate BolgarskayaJenna BoppGabrielle IveyGrace Kelsheimer and Federica Savoia on Senior Day before the meet.

“Really pleased with how we competed today. To send our seniors off with a win made the day that much more special,” Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Ian Wash said. “So many people put together great performances. Our 400 Medley Relay was exceptional, obliterating the pool record by almost three seconds. Lauren McNamara had a great showing, besting our school in the 200 Fly and went on to complete a tough double of 100 Fly and 400 IM, swimming a lifetime best in the 400 IM.”

MU started the meet with a pair of record-braking performances in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of Kseniia LuniushinaPaige BantonMadeline Hart and Audrey West combined to break the pool record with Luniushina’s leadoff leg in the 100 Backstroke setting a pool and program record she previously set earlier in the year at the House of Champions.

Lauren McNamara followed with a pool and school record in the 200 Butterfly as Kelsheimer took the 3m and 1m Dives setting a pool record in the 1m in the process.

“Kseniia had two strong individual performances, while setting the tone of her day with a school record in the 100 Backstroke leading off the 400 Medley. Molly rounding out our Pool Records with her final individual swim in the 400 IM, beating the pool record by over two seconds.”

Luniushina then set a pool record in the 200 Backstroke with Molly Warner closing out the individual events with a pool record in the 400 Individual Medley.

“Overall, we had 18 season bests, six pool records, and two team records. I couldn’t be prouder of this group and how intentional they’ve been with their training and racing. We are in a great spot, and we’ll continue to sharpen up some things for conference in three weeks.”

Marshall also picked up wins in the 1650 Freestyle by Eszter Laban, 100 and 200 Breaststroke by Banton, Parker Lynch in the 100 Backstroke, Luniushina in the 50 Freestyle, Savoia in the 500 Freestyle, Hart in the 100 Butterfly and a win in the 200 Freestyler Relay.
