Mason Manta Rays Break Boys 200 Medley Relay 15-16 NAG

Due to issues with the timing system at the ISCA meet which caused swimmers’ times to appear .39 faster than they actually were, times listed below have been adjusted to reflect USA Swimming’s decision to add .39 seconds to times swum at Wednesday prelims, Wednesday finals, Wednesday time trials, Thursday prelims, and Thursday time trials sessions. The boys of the Mason Manta Rays have taken down yet another national age group record this week at the TYR Junior National Cap in Lynchburg, VA.  This time, Carson Foster, Ian Van Gorp, Jacob McDonald, and Adam Chaney set a new 15-16 record in the 200 medley by combining for a time of 1:28.85.

There have been some issues with splits the past two days, and the results tonight show splits of 21.82/31.07/16.57/19.39.  Those middle two splits are obviously incorrect, and looking at the video below, it looks like they split around 26.0 and 21.5. The leadoff and anchor legs by Foster and Chaney are in line with what we saw last night, when those two, McDonald, and 17 year-old Jacob Foster combined for a 15-18 year-old National Age Group Record.

Tonight, the Manta Rays took a big chunk off the previous record, which was a 1:31.29 that the Bolles School Sharks team set in 2014.  That team included Dakota Mahaffery (22.73), James Daughtery (25.69), Ariel Spektor (22.26), and Tyler Rice (20.61).
