PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women’s swimming and diving (2-3, 2-3 Ivy) cruised by Penn, 220.5-79.5 on Saturday afternoon at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The Bears had 15  first-place finishes against the Quakers.

It was a big day for the Bears as multiple Bears took home multiple wins. Anna Podurgiel had a fantastic day winning three events (200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 IM). Jenna Reznicek also won three events, winning the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 100 butterfly.

Sara Barrett won both the 500 and 1000 freestyle. Kaitlyn Holmes won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. Sam Scott eared a win in the 50 free for the Bears.

On the boards, Elena Yeh earned wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It came down to the final events of the day, as the University of Pennsylvania men’s swimming and diving team survived to get the win over Brown, 150.5-149.5 Saturday afternoon at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.

The Quakers (2-1, 1-1 Ivy) totaled eight first-place finishes in a closely contested battle. Of those eight, Alex Fu and Matthew Fallon both picked up a pair to lead the way.

*Penn kicked off the meet with a bang, claiming the win in the 200-yard medley relay as Jack Hamilton, Fallon, Fu and Ben Feldman swam a 1:30.29.

*James Curreri tallied the Quakers’ first individual win of the day in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming to a time of 49.93, beating out teammate Mark McCrary by just under a second at 50.87.

*In the closest event of the meet, Fu picked up his first of two wins in the 50-yard freestyle (20.76), Penn’s only 1-2-3 sweep of the day. Feldman swam a 20.79 to just nearly miss out on the top spot. Matthew Dieffenthaller earned third with a time of 20.90. That showing along got the Quakers 16 points towards their total.

*In addition, Fu claimed the win in the 100-yard butterfly with a quick time of 48.82.

*Daniel Gallagher came in first place in the 200 back (1:48.93), beating out Curreri (1:49.91), who narrowly came in second.

*Fallon rebounded following his second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke (1:55.76). Teammate Jason Schreiber placed second with a time of 2:01.51. Fallon also won the 200-yard IM (1:49.77).

*Freshman Truman Armstrong continued upon his strong start to the season, clocking in at 4:31.69 to take home first place in the 500-yard freestyle.

*On the diving board, Jack Williams recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the one-meter (318.23) and three-meter (314.63) dives.

Penn continues its road trip to Ithaca, taking on both Cornell and Princeton in a tri-meet next Saturday. The Quakers take on the Big Red at 11 a.m. and the Tigers at 3 p.m.
