Mattsson took the event by almost a full 10 seconds.

Jallow set two new Finnish national records in the 50 and 100 backstroke. In the 50 backstroke Jallow posted a time of 28.38 breaking the previous record of 28.61 which was set by Anni Alitalo in 2013.

Jallow won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:01.58, but broke Hanna Maria Seppala‘s 2008 record of 1:01.94 swimming a 1:01.36 in the prelims.

Coming into the event Jallow’s previous best time were 28.71 and 1:02.03 which she recorded at the European Championships in Berlin last summer.

Ari-Pekka Liukkonen also had a strong showing capturing the men’s 100 freestyle. Liukkonen posted his fastest time of the weekend in the prelims swimming a lifetime best of 50.00. That beat his previous best of 50.42 which he recorded in 2012.

Liukkonen was also not far off of the Finnish record of 49.77 which was set by Jani Sievinen in 1995.
