Mattsson Destroys the Competition on the Third Night of the Finnish Championships

2013 World Championships bronze medalist Matti Mattsson took the men’s 200 breaststroke with ease on the third night of the Finnish Swimming Championships in Vaasa. Mattsson posted a 2:14.04 just over five seconds off his Finnish record time of 2:08.95 but five seconds ahead the rest of the field.

Finnish national record holder Ari-Pekka Liukkonen also had a strong win in the men’s 50 freestyle. Liukkonen won the event in a time of 22.33 well off his national record time of 21.93 which he set last year.

800 freestyle champion Laura Lajunen added another gold to her medal collection winning the women’s 400 freestyle in a time of 4:17.98.

Fanny Teijonsalo won the women’s 50 butterfly in a time of 27.15 not far off of Emilia Pikkarainen‘s 2009 national record time of 26.90.

Eetu Piiroinen dominated the men’s 400 freestyle winning in a time of 3:55.44 almost nine seconds ahead of the next closest competitor.

Vilma Ruotsalainen took the women’s 200 backstroke in a time of 2:17.81 while Sami Juopperi won the men’s event in a time of 2:06.09.

Hanna-Maria Seppala won the women’s 100 freestyle in a time of 56.22
