Monona Grove’s Ben McDade helped his team win their State Championship title, picking up a pair of wins and a State Record Individually. His first victory came in the 200 free, where he registered a 1:39.67 to come within a second of the record. He then became the first Wisconsin D2 swimmer to ever break 4:30 in the 500 free, setting the State Record at 4:28.83 to pick up another gold.
The Monona Grove boys swept the relays en route to their State Title. Their best race was arguably the 200 medley relay, where they were just a hundredth shy of the State Record. Eric Storms (back- 22.78), McDade (breast- 26.35), Connor Keith (fly- 23.22), and Shane Sackett (free- 21.47) combined to win it in 1:33.82.
Cedarburg’s Will Hobbs and Brown Deer’s Ben Hayes were als odouble event winners. Hobbs swept the sprints, touching the wall with a 21.06 in the 50 free and a 46.30 in the 100 free. Hayes, on the other hand, put together a winning double in the 200 IM (1:52.43) and 100 breast (57.94).
