McEvoy In A ‘Good Position’ Headed Into Trials

Excitement is just about boiling over in Adelaide, South Australia, as the nation’s Olympic Trials meet is slated to kick off tomorrow, April 7th. Among the thrilling races to accompany the 7-day event are the men sprint freestyle events, highlighted by a trio of terror in the form of Cameron McEvoy, James Magnussen and Kyle Chalmers.

All 3 of these studs could take the crown in the 50m freestyle and/or the 100m freestyle, but in his interview, McEvoy stresses that, individually, he’s in a ‘really good position’ headed into the meet. He cites having raced more than usual and the fact that he’s clocked personal bests outside of ‘being fresh’ as good indicators that he’s about to take on the Aussie domestic depth as prepared as possible.

Nice glimpse on a practice session. Do elite athletes usually swim in lanes that crowded? It looked like my hometown pool on a Sunday afternoon

How crowded do you think the pool in Omaha going to be like one or two days before US trials starts?

I didn’t realize how small McEvoy is, for a male sprinter anyway.
