Mediterranean Grand Prix Concludes With Duran, Vall Victories

The Grand Prix – Mediterrani concluded over the weekend, with a few French visitors intermingling with the host nation of Spain.

A duel ensued in the men’s 400m freestyle, with Miguel Duran taking the gold in 3:55.25 while Frenchman Guillaume Roux snagged silver in 3:56.18. Right behind the duo was Raul Santiago, who punched a result of 3:56.88 to keep things interesting at the finish.

For Duran, the 25-year-old was well off his best of 3:48.96, a time he registered in 2016, although he’s been as fast as 3:51.34 just last month.

National record holder Jessica Vall shined in her signature 100m breast event, putting up the fastest time in 1:07.89. that result was just over a half a second off her season-best of 1:07.22 scored in Sabadell in March. Her lifetime best is represented by the 1:06.44 she put up nearly 4 years ago.

Additional Winners:

  • Sergio De Celis Montalban grabbed the only 100m freestyle time under 50 seconds, taking the men’s race in 49.85.
  • The men’s 400m IM winner Joan Pons touched in a time of 4:24.47 to reap gold.
  • The women’ s100m free fell victim to Lidon Munoz, with the speedster logging 55.28 to get the job done handily.
