Meet A Mustang: Marne Erasmus (Video)

This video features SMU’s Marne Erasmus, who is heading into her senior year with the Mustangs. In the video Erasmus discusses what brought her to SMU, her best accomplishments since starting University, and her goals in the sport of swimming moving forward.

Erasmus, a native of South Africa, has had a lot of international experience so far in her career. Erasmus competed at the 2012 Short Course World Championships in Istanbul and the 2013 Long Course World Championships in Barcelona to get her international start. She then had some international success, qualifying for two semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and making another one at the 2015 World University Games.

Erasmus got her collegiate career off to a good start in 2014, winning the 100 fly at the American Athletic Conference Championships and finishing 3rd at the NCAA Championships. Erasmus has won the conference title again in 2015 and 2016 in the 100 fly and also won the 200 fly this year. She has also been part of eight conference winning relay teams.
