MEET NOTES: First 300 Fans Get Free T-Shirts When Florida Hosts Tennessee in Televised Dual

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida No. 7 men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams host Tennessee on Saturday (Jan. 31) at 11 a.m. in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. The Vols bring to Gainesville their 11th-ranked men’s team and No. 10 women’s squad, according to the latest CSCAA poll.

Florida’s women have had tremendous success against Tennessee, as the Gators hold the all-time series lead 26-2. Meanwhile, UF’s men will look to create a little separation from UT, with UF holding the slight series edge, 21-20 entering Saturday.

UF and UT last met a season ago on Feb. 1 in Knoxville, Tenn. when Florida’s men completed its perfect dual meet season for the third-straight year with a 179-121 win over Tennessee. On the women’s side, the Gators fell to the Volunteers for just the second time in program history, 152-148.

UF’s men dominated the meet with wins in 10 of the 16 events and were led by Brad deBorde, as he swept the sprint events (50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races) and led off the Gators’ first place 400-yard freestyle relay team. On the women’s side, Florida tallied just five event wins.

Both teams are coming off dual meet wins over Auburn, as the Gators won a combined 21 of 32 events and defeated the Tigers, 158-142 (men) and 152-148 (women), respectively. The win for the Gator women marked their first at Auburn since 2009.
