NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team has traveled to Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan this season – yet on Saturday, Feb. 7th, it is a team from Ohio they welcome in to the Rolfs Aquatic Center. The Irish are set to face longtime regional foe Cleveland State Saturday in the last meet of the regular season, with swimming and diving being contested simultaneously.

“Cleveland State is an opponent that always gives us fits,” Irish head coach Matt Tallman says. “We are looking forward to getting our last preparations in before departing for ACC [Championships]. There will be a lot of challenges this weekend, but we are excited about each of them.”

Last weekend the Notre Dame men saw four pool records broken at the Shamrock Invite, two by the Hawkeyes (400 medley relay and 200 breast) and two by the Irish (800 free relay and 1650 free). This weekend’s meet serves as a final tune-up of sorts before the ACC Championships, held Feb. 25th-28th in Atlanta, Ga.

Looking back to last year’s dual meet with the Vikings, Notre Dame paid homage to current women’s interim head coach – then men’s head coach – Tim Welsh by playing the national anthem on a tuba. The Irish won last year, 204.5-94.5, upping their record against the Vikings to 28-10.

The action starts Saturday at 12 p.m. ET, with results available through Meet Mobile and Live Stats. Team social media accounts will also have updates periodically throughout the afternoon.
