Paden Duke of the Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club is among the first male swimmers signing with Carson-Newman University for the 2016-17 season. When he’s not competing in the Southeastern Swimming LSC, Duke swims as a home schooled student for the Memphis Home Education Association (MHEA) Eagles. He’ll be reunited with former teammates Garrett Stelling and Ryland Darling at the NCAA Division II program next fall.
“I chose Carson-Newman because of the enthusiasm the coaches and swimmers have for the team; and their commitment to success in and out of the pool.”
Most of Duke’s current best times were swam at the 2015 SC Southeastern Championships earlier this year. Those times put him just on the edge of being able to final at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships, but his freestyle events give a boost to Carson-Newman’s mid-distance stock.
