The Minnesota State University (Mankato) women have added a new face to their recruiting class, as Meredith Cox has verbally committed to join the Mavericks next season. Cox is a swimmer for Davenport Metro Swim Team in Iowa, where she currently attends Central High School.
Cox is a 2-time Iowa State Championships qualifier, and she most recently competed at the 2016 Iowa Girls State Championships last weekend. At that meet, her highest finish came in the 100 fly, where she cracked 1:00 in the 100 fly for the first time to finish 18th in 59.99. Additionally, she earned a 24th place finish in the 100 back with a personal best 1:03.16.
Cox’s Top Times:
- 50 free- 25.67
- 100 free- 56.17
- 100 fly- 59.99
- 200 fly- 2:18.83
- 100 back- 1:03.16
When she starts at MSU, Cox should be an immediate factor for the Mavericks at the New South Intercollegiate Swimming Conference Championships. Her personal best in the 100 fly is already fast enough to have scored in the B-final at the 2016 conference meet. She’ll be training alongside Kylie Gaeth, who finished 6th in the 100 fly at 2016 NSISCs.
