Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Garrett Nevels, Missouri State, Senior
Event & Time:
1-meter diving: 411.87 (pool and school record)
3-meter diving: 388.58 (pool and school record)
Senior Garrett Nevels shattered the Missouri State school and pool records in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events on Thursday, Oct. 16, in the “Duel in the Pool” against 12-time DII national champion Drury University. Nevels dominated in the 1-meter event by finishing with a 411.87 in six dives and beat his own school record by more than 54 points. He also set the pool record by nine points, which was previously done last season by Missouri’s David Bonuchi.
Nevels also broke his own school record in the 1-meter dive by a little over 10 points, while also setting the new pool record with 388.58 points. The previous pool record was held by Evan Watters of Missouri with 378.38 in 2004.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Stephanie LeMire, Miami, Sophomore

Xavier- Won 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.16)
Xavier- Won 100-yard freestyle (52.80)
Xavier- Won 200-yard freestyle relay (1:36.55)
LeMire was the only RedHawks swimmer to have more than one second-place finish against Purdue, where she had three. She was one of three Miami swimmers to win multiple individual events against Xavier. In the 100-yard breaststroke, the next closest swimmer was a Miami teammate, who finished .89 seconds after LeMire, who swam a 1:05.16. The closest Xavier swimmer was over 2.5 seconds behind her. She won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.80 and a whole second ahead of the next competitor. Her 200-yard freestyle team beat the second place Miami team by over a second, and clocked in at 1:36.55.

Event & Time:
First place finish: 100 breaststroke, 1:04.44
Fifth place finish: 200 medley relay, 1:48.57 with team mates sophomore Courtney Mudd, sophomore Katie Horn and senior Carlena Magley.
Eighth place finish: 200 individual medley, 2:12.72
Freshman Amanda Kedzierski had an outstanding showing at the Indiana Intercollegiate hosted by Purdue this weekend. 11 schools were in attendance for the event. Kedzierski debuted her first collegiate win over a Big Ten school at Ball State’s first meet of the season placing in the top ten for all three of her events.
Brian Morre, Eastern Michigan, Senior

1. 100 free: 45.82

Eastern Michigan University senior Brian Moore started out his senior campaign strong, winning one event and taking runner-up in three in the Eagles’ close-fought battle against Big Ten opponent Northwestern University, Oct. 16. Moore won the 100 free nearly one second ahead of Northwestern’s first swimmer and set a career best in the 50 free, taking second in 20.95 just .05 seconds after the winner. Additionally, Moore’s times in both events rank second in the conference for the 2014-15 season. In the relays, Moore swam on the A team for the 200 medley and 400 free lineups. The 200 medley relay dropped to NU by less than half a second, finishing in 1:31.98, while the 400 free relay had an equally close finish in 3:05.94.
Joe Baumgartner, Miami, Senior
Event & Time:
50-yard Freestyle- 20.53 and leading the 200-yard freestyle relay- 1:23.98 (team time)
The meet against Xavier was the men’s first official meet of the season and Baumgartner’s first meet of his senior year. Baumgartner took first for his team in the 50-yard freestyle clocking a time of 20.53. He outswam his nearest Xavier competitor by .4 of a second and the next nearest Miami swimmer almost a full second behind him. As the only senior on his 200-yard freestyle relay team, he swam the lead leg and brought home another first place for the RedHawks with a team time of 1:23.98. The final score of the meet was Miami 142 and Xavier 113.
