Mizzou walked away 5-0 on the weekend after defeating Northwestern, Kentucky, and SIU in a two day quad meet. Mizzou’s men’s beat Kentucky 193.5-144.5 and the women’s team beat them 214-124. Against Southern Illinois, the Kentucky men captured a 239-106 victory while the Kentucky women recorded a 238-106 win. Only the men’s team from Northwestern competed, but they lost to all three schools, falling 178-167 to Southern Illinois, 228-110 to Missouri and 231.5-112.5 to Kentucky.
Michael Chadwick was the star of the meet, winning four individual events over the course of the two day meet. On the first day, he won the 200 IM (1:50.53) and 100 Free (43.01) on Friday before winning the 50 free (19.87) and 200 free (1:37.72) on Saturday.
Fabian Schwingenschlogl swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breaststroke in 54.40 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:00.00. Rachel Hayden also completed a two event sweep, winning the 100 freestyle in 51.31 and the 200 freestyle in 1:51.30.
Brandon Flynn highlighted the meet for the Kentucky Wildcats with an impressive victory in the 400 IM. Flynn recorded an NCAA B cut time of 3:53.52. Behind him, Isaac Jones, Kyle Higgins, Drew Aviotti, Walker Thaning, and Haley McInerny each won an individual event for the Wildcats. Jones won both the 500 and 1000 freestyle.
Bryn Handley was dominant for the Southern Illinois Salukis. She swept the distance freestyle events, winning the 500 in 4:51.97 and the 1000 free in 10:02.38.
