2014 Arena Grand Prix at Mesa – 50 Butterfly

Reported by SwimSwam / Braden Keith

SEE THE 50 BUTTERFLY RACE VIDEO HERE.

Michael Phelps‘ second race into his comeback from retirement wasn’t as successful as his first. He finished 42nd in prelims of the 50 free, though it perhaps wasn’t as unsuccessful as that might look on paper. He swam the race butterfly, so in those terms his 24.06 wasn’t too bad (though something in the 23-second range would have been nice to see).

Watch the video of his swim, and watch and see too where Nathan Adrian cruised to a 22.75 for the 4th-seed headed into finals above him in the middle of the pool.

You notice the tease in his voice “I don’t have a suit contract yet”. It’s becoming more obvious I just wonder when they will release Aqua Armor brand. I’d guess before Worlds next summer.
