The battle for first place between Michigan and Indiana is heating up, as the Wolverines stand just 45.5 ahead of the Hoosiers headed into the final night of competition in Ann Arbor.

Top 5 Team Scores Through Day 3:

  1. Michigan, 891
  2. Indiana, 845.5

Michigan and Indiana lead the field with two top seeds each, although the Wolverines hold the upper hand in terms of number of returning swimmers – albeit just by one. Michigan will see 16 swimmers head to the finals tonight, tied with Indiana for the most number (6) in the A-Finals.

The Wolverines have two swimmers in every final save for the 200 butterfly, but they hold an ace in their sleeve with Gillian Ryan holding the top seed for tonight’s 1650 freestyle. Point-impacting performer Yirong Bi from Michigan will also be in that distance final.

Indiana holds the advantage in the 200 butterfly with Gia Dalesandro holing the top seed, as well as the 200 breaststroke where Miranda Tucker and Lilly King hold the #1 and #3 respective seeds.

And we get the 400 freestyle relay tonight, an event in which anything can happen in the heat of the moment with a roaring crowd behind you.
