Michigan’s Mokhtar Al-Yamani Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week

Michigan’s was named Big Ten swimmer of the week after winning the 100 free (43.23), 200 free (1:34.77), and 500 free (4:22.83) at Michigan’s First Chance Meet this past weekend. This is the first weekly honor of Al-Yamani’s collegiate career. Those swims also earned him freshman of the week honors.

  • Collected a trio of top finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (43.23), 200-yard freestyle (1:34.77) and 500-yard freestyle (4:22.83) at the Michigan First Chance Meet
  • Times in all three events are NCAA provisional qualifying standards
  • Earns his first career Swimmer and Freshman of the Week honor
  • Last Michigan Swimmer of the Week: Anders Lie Nielsen (Feb. 3, 2016)
  • Last Michigan Freshman of the Week: Paul Powers (Feb. 24, 2015)
