Mid-Distance Freestyler Max Lezer Commits to North Dakota

Max Lezer of Rogers, Minnesota has made a verbal commitment to swim at University of North Dakota for the next four years. Lezer is a senior at Saint Michael Albertville High School, where he was runner-up in the 200 free (1:39.61) and placed third in the 500 free (4:37.25) at the 2016 MSHSL Boys AA Swim & Dive Championships. He anchored the 200 free relay in 21.26 and the 400 free relay in 46.08.

Lezer swims year-round for Sea Devils Swim Club out of Saint Michael, Minnesota. He improved in nearly all his secondary events during his junior year, including back, breast, fly and IM. At the 2016 Minnesota Senior State LCM Championships he placed second in the 200/400m freestyles and third in the 800m free; he also was 11th in the 200m IM and 17th in the 100m fly.

Lezer’s best SCY times are:

  • 200 free – 1:39.02
  • 500 free – 4:35.87
  • 1000 free – 9:35.84
  • 200 IM – 1:54.82

Lezer would have contributed to the Fighting Hawks’ results at 2016 WAC Championships with a B-final finish in the 200 free and a C final in the 500. Additionally, he would rank number 6 on the UND all-time list in the 200 freestyle and number 5 in the 1000.
