Millikin Adds Nine To Growing Program

The Millikin University swim team continues to build by adding 9 incoming student-athletes for the 2017-18 season. This class includes swimmers from three different states including North Carolina, Missouri and the home state of Illinois.

A program that has undergone recent and exciting changes is poised to build upon recent success. The Big Blue are extremely excited about these incoming swimmers, as they will not only add incredible talent to the team but great depth and character.

The following five student-athletes will lead the way into the next step for Millikin:

Danielle Bickel comes to Millikin from St. Louis, Missouri where she is currently the 52nd ranked swimmer in the state. She will have an immediate impact in the sprint freestyle and backstroke events, having times that would already place in the top sixteen at the CCIW Conference Championships.

Nick Hoerr joins Millikin from Peoria, Illinois. Another top recruited sprint freestyler; Hoerr’s presence will help to continue the ongoing recent success of the Millikin program. Nick placed 2nd in the 100 Freestyle at the 2017 Illinois Boys Sectional and will look to score significant points at the CCIW Conference Championships.

Alena Hinch joins the Big Blue family as a transfer from Mckendree University. Hinch, once a member of the local Decatur Swim Club, brings tremendous talent in the sprint freestyle events. Having placed top eight at the 2014 Illinois Sectional Championship she will be a great addition to the team. She will also look to make an impact in butterfly.

Millie Gegg brings a depth of events to Millikin, including distance freestyle and the breaststroke events. Out of Flyers Aquatic swim team in St. Louis, Missouri, Gegg carries a wealth of experience from starting at a very young age.

Jacob Williams out of Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois is a stand out sprint freestyler. Williams will join Millikin University with times that are very competitive within not only the program but the conference as well. He will look to make a strong impact at the CCIW Conference Championships.
