MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee women’s swim & dive team won a total of 10 events Friday evening against DIII powerhouse Wheaton Thunder by a final score of 119 to 77 from the Klotsche Natatorium.

The Panthers took the evening by storm capturing the top-spot in the first five events, and would go on to win 10-of-11 events against the Thunder.

MKE kicked things off winning the 200 Medley Relay edging out the Thunder by nearly a half of a second. The freshman squad – Mia Piljevic, Makaila Scheiblein, Isabella Passamani and Cassandra Hutchins – touched the wall at 1:48.98 with teammates Addison Skogman, Jenn Kordik, Shelby Rozeboom and Emma Helgeson placing third at 1:52.93.

Fellow freshman Madeline Worgull nabbed her collegiate win by going the distance in the 1000 Freestyle. The Panthers went 1-2-3 in the event with Worgull leading the way at 10:58.53, Jenna Hotvedt (11:11.21) and Shelby Rozeboom (11:20.30) following.

Freshmen classmates Giulia Montes-Guerra, Bella Passamani, Makaila Scheiblein also stood at the top of the podium in their respective events.

In addition to their 200 Medley Relay win, Passamani and Scheiblein won individual events as well. Scheiblein took the 100 Breaststroke by nearly two seconds coming in with a final time of 1:08.13. Two events later Passamani won comfortably in the 500 Freestyle. Passamani clocked in at 5:13.35 while her nearest Thunder opponent rolled in with a time of 5:40.32.

Senior Emma Helgeson also claimed two wins. The Skokie (Ill.) native sprinted to a 25.14 finish in the 50 Freestyle, and later went on to win the 100 Freestyle with a time of 53.64.

The Panthers return to action Saturday, Nov. 10 as the team hosts UIC. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. from Klotsche Natatorium.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee men’s swim & dive team won all but two events in a dual meet win over Wheaton College Friday from Klotsche Natatorium.

MKE captured 9-of-11 events Friday with a medley on Panther winners.

The Panthers took 1-2 in the first event of the evening, the 200 Medley Relay. Patrick Kelley, Jacob Fase, Ryan Scripp and Bailey Bodart squeaked by fellow teammates Quinn Yeager, John Ruan, Noah Jamieson and Mason Schoof at 1:36.02-1:36.58.

In the 1000 Freestyle, freshman Jack Garcia earned his first collegiate win by going the distance coming in at 10:00.59. The Panthers swept the event when Jacob Fase (10:18.65) and Dane Van Allen (10:36.29) followed right behind Garcia.

Senior Patrick Kelley won the 400 IM by nearly seven seconds touching the wall in at 4:11.69. Teammate Andrew Grever placed third coming in at 4:20.12.

Panthers’ Bailey Bodart, Brandon Niemiec and Colin Duffy picked up their first event win of the season, adding on to the Panthers night of success. Bodart took the 100 Backstroke touching the wall at 53.27 and Niemiec finished in 59.61 in the 100 Breaststroke. Meanwhile Duffy cruised in the 500 Freestyle finishing nearly 18 seconds ahead of his opponent. Duffy clocked in at 4:46.74 for the top time.

The Panthers return to action Saturday, Nov. 10 as the team hosts UIC. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. from Klotsche Natatorium.

Milwaukee, Wis. – The Thunder men’s and women’s swimming teams traveled north on Friday night for a dual meet at Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Thunder men’s team fell to the Panthers 125-76 and the women’s team fell 119-77. Wheaton will host its home opener next Saturday, November 10, when the Thunder host Calvin College at 1 pm.

The Thunder won three events in Friday night’s dual meet and earned 12 runner-up finishes.

Chris Szymczak won a thrilling finish in the 50-yard freestyle winning by a margin of just .13 seconds with a time of 22.01 seconds. Szymczak also recorded a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing just .12 seconds shy of first place. Abby Rutledge also earned a tight victory, winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.59 with a winning margin of .16 seconds. Christian Cameron‘s victory in the 100-yard butterfly came in 51.97 seconds, pulling away to touch the wall 1.23 seconds ahead of the field.

Maggie Franke turned in runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (25.38) and 500-yard freestyle (5:40.32). Priscilla Min also turned in a pair of second place finishes, finishing runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley (4:46.07) and the 100-yard breaststroke, which she tied with Michaela Sandeno in a time of 1:10.11.

Ben Griffith finished second in the 400-yard IM in 4:18.05 and Stephen Larson was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.21 seconds. Chris Plimpton (5:50.28) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle and Ethan Kile (1:01.64) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Brooke Barnes was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.46, Alex McKeaney was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.41 seconds, and Aleah Perkins finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.08.
