Milwaukee Sweeps Horizon League Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee swept the first Nike #HLSD Swimmer of the Week honors of the New Year on Tuesday. Swimmers Dane Van Allen and Bri Zablocki each took the top spot in their events in their dual against St. Norbert. Freshman divers Jared Kleczka and McKenzie Sanchez each had an event win in the one-meter to help the Panthers in their campaign against the Green Knights.

2019 Nike® Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Dane Van Allen | Milwaukee | R-Senior | Nevada, Iowa

Van Allen tallied a career-best time of 9:57.91 in the 1000 free, dropping over three seconds to secure the top spot in a dual meet against St. Norbert. His win helped the Panthers sweep all 12 events in a dominating 151-65 win over the Green Knights.

2019 Nike® Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Bri Zablocki | Milwaukee | Freshman | De Pere, Wis.

Zablocki opened up the New Year continuing her strong freshman campaign in a dual meet against St. Norbert. The freshman led the field in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.67, which is now her fourth 200 IM event win this season. She also was a key member of the winning 400 free relay team (4:06.11). Zablocki helped the Panthers sweep all 11 events in a dominating 127-59 win over the Green Knights and extend the Milwaukee winning streak at home to 17.

Men’s Diver of the Week

Jared Kleczka | Milwaukee | Freshman | Franklin, Wis.

Kleczka continued his strong freshman season with an event win on the one-meter in a dual meet against St. Norbert. The freshman scored 276.60 to take the top spot for the second time this season. His win helped the Panthers sweep all 12 events in a dominating 151-65 win over the Green Knights. 

Women’s Diver of the Week

McKenzie Sanchez | Milwaukee | Freshman | Racine, Wis.

Sanchez opened up the New Year on top in the one-meter diving event in a dual meet against St. Norbert. The freshman scored a 247.20 to grab her fifth one-meter event win on the season. She helped the Panthers sweep all 11 events in a dominating 127-59 win over the Green Knights and extend the Panthers’ winning streak at home to 17.
