Minnesota Adds Alicia Hicken-Franklin To Coaching Staff

The University of Minnesota swimming and diving head coach Kelly Kremer announced that Alicia Hicken-Franklin will become the newest member of the Gophers’ coaching staff, joining the program with the title of Associate Head Coach for men’s and women’s swimming and diving.

Hicken-Franklin, a Gopher standout herself, joins the program following her 16-year stint at the University of Denver. She helped guide the Pioneers to three-consecutive Summit League titles since joining during the 2013-2014 season and was nominated for the CollegeSwimming.com 2016 Assistant Coach of the Year award.

“Our entire team is so excited to welcome Alicia, her husband Bryan, and their three children, Genevieve, Adelaide, and Spencer to Minnesota!” said Kremer. “It is very important that we surround our student athletes with the best people possible, and Alicia is certainly one of the best people and coaches in this profession.”

As a Gopher, Hicken-Franklin was nothing short of successful in her career from 1993-1997. A six-time Big Ten Conference champion finalist in the 200, 500 and 1650-freestyle Hicken-Franklin was also a two-time NCAA Academic All-American honorable mention.
