The final day of the St. George Sectional meet featured just three events, the 1650 free, 200 IM, and 50 free.

During the early afternoon session dedicated to the mile, 15-year old Mila Nikanorov of Highlands Ranch Aquatics swam to a huge lifetime best and event win. Nikanorov touched first in 17:07.43, well below her previous best of 17:45.52. On the men’s side, it was Owen Ngan from Lake Oswego Swim Club who came away with the win in 15:48.31.

In the finals session at night, Camden Doane got the session underway with a win, and new best time, in the 200 IM. Doane dropped almost a second in the race from her previous best of 2:03.11, touching in 2:02.28.

The men’s 200 IM featured three different swimmers dipping below 1:50 for the first time in their careers. Coming in first was Brown University swimmer Michael Lincoln, who finished in 1:49.37. Just behind him was a pair of high schoolers, Quintin McCarty, who is committed to North Carolina State for 2022, and Austin Sparrow, who will join the University of California, Santa Barbara this fall. McCarty touched in 1:49.62, while Sparrow was just behind him in 1:49.68.

Lyndsey Wehr, who is committed to join the University of Minnesota this fall, topped the field in the women’s 50 free. The Highlands Ranch Aquatics swimmer was just off of her lifetime best of 23.15, touching in 23.20. Second place in the event featured a tie between two swimmers, 25-year old Polina Lapshina, who was an NCAA DII champion for Queens University of Charlotte, and Leigh Lopez-Silvers. Both swimmers touched in 23.65.

In his second event of the evening, Quintin McCarty came away with the win in the 50 free. McCarty finished in 20.09, slightly off of his best time of 20.00 from last December.
