University of Minnesota diving coach Wenbo Chen has been named the CSCAA’s NCAA Division I Diving Coach of the Year.
Chen qualified 3 divers for the meet, and all 3 scored at least 30 points. That included an NCAA title from senior Yu Zhou on the 3-meter, a runner-up finish from freshman Sarah Bacon on the 1-meter, and a Diver of the Year honor for senior Lexi Tenenbaum.
In total, Chen’s divers scored 96 of the Gophers’ 168 team points en route to a 10th-place overall finish. That’s more diving points than any other team in the meet.
The award is Chen’s 3rd time winning the award, having also earned the honor in 2015 and 2011.
