Missouri Grand Prix 2010: Day 1 Final Results

Here are the results of each of  the ‘A’ Finals from the first day of the Missouri Grand Prix. There were very few surprises in the finals, as most of the top seeds won. There was a ton of time dropped from the prelim heats, and some great swims all around.

The closest we saw to what could be called an upset was Thiago Pereira in the 400 I.M. over Ous Mellouli. Mellouli finished exactly 3 seconds ahead of Pereira in the prelims, but both men had double-digit time drops in the finals, with Pereira just barely coming out on top.

The women’s 200 free, which was an extremely tight prelim, ended up being a relatively easy victory for Chloe Sutton. Melloui pushed Brent Hayden a little in the men’s 200, but nothing too tight.

Shanteau managed to move up to 2nd in the 100 breaststroke, but never really challenged Kitajima.

Tomorrow’s action will see the 200 IM, 50 free, 200 breast, 100 back, and 400 free, and the 400 medley relays.
