Missouri Men; Texas A&M Women Split SEC Dual Meet

The Missouri men’s swimming and diving team improved to 3-1 (SEC 2-0) after a 186-114 win against Texas A&M on Friday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

The meet began with the Missouri 400 medley relay team of Logan Mosley, Sam Tierney, Mack Darragh and Michael Chadwick winning with a time of 3:17:14, the fifth-fastest in the nation this season.

The Missouri men retained control of the rest of the meet. Sam Tierney swept the 100 and 200 breaststroke, freshman Carter Griffin won the 200 backstroke by more than four seconds with a time of 1:46:08, adding the 10th-fastest in the nation this season.

Senior diver David Bonuchi won the 3-meter by scoring 388.05.

Senior Kyle Troskot highlighted the meet for the Aggies. Troskot grabbed first place in three individual events, touching first in the 50 free (20.29), the 100 free (44.92), and the 100 fly (48.75). Troskot brought in 27 individual points and also contributed to the 200 freestyle relay victory to bring in 11 more points.  Ford McLiney won first place in the 1-meter dive competition with a score of 329.18.

The Aggies finished the meet by winning the 200 freestyle relay. The foursome of Troskot, Henrik Lindau, Cory Bolleter, and Or Sabatier finished more than two seconds ahead to win in 1:21.53.

The No. 4 Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team improved to 3-0 with a dual meet victory over the Missouri Tigers.

The Aggies won 14 of 16 possible events in the 159-118 victory. The women’s squad showed off its depth with 12 individuals wins by 11 different swimmers, along with dominating performances in both relays.

Senior Olympian Cammile Adams brought the Aggies 18 individual points with wins in the 200 fly (1:59.38) and the 400 IM (4:17.97). Adams also contributed to the 400 medley relay victory (55.35 fly; 3:43.45) bringing in an additional 11 points.

Among the other individual victories was senior Olympian Breeja Larson who took down the 100 breast in 1:00.05. Larson also assisted in the 400 medley relay with a breaststroke split of 1:00.92. Senior Melanie McClure hit the wall first in the 200 back in 2:00.72.  Junior Lili Ibañez grabbed a win in the 200 free (1:49.51), and junior Sammie Bosma easily took first in the 50 free (22.95).

More first place finishes came from sophomores Colleen Konetzke in the 1000 free (10:17.67), Claire Brandt in the 100 back (56.92), Meredith Oliver in the 100 free (51.09), and Ashley McGregor in the 200 breast (2:15.94). Finally, freshman Sycerika McMahon won the 500 free by a body length (4:57.74) and freshman Madison Hudkins won the 3-meter dive with a score of 312.30.

The Aggies started and finished the meet with relay wins.  The foursome of junior Kelli Benjamin, Larson, Adams, and Ibañez took first in the 400 medley relay in 3:43.45 to set the pace for the meet. To close, the squad of Benjamin, sophomore Katherine Huff, junior Emily Neubert, and senior Erica Dittmer won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:34. 36.

Missouri Junior Danielle Barbiea won the 100 fly with a season best time of 54.24 and her teammate, Lauren Reedy won the 1-meter springboard with a score of 278.63.
