MIT Men & Women Release 2017-18 Schedule

The MIT men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs have releases their schedules for the 2017-18 season which will feature five home dual meets, the annual three-day Winter Invitational and four-day New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship. The Engineers will be under the guidance of third-year Mary Frances Wagley ’47 Head Coach Dani Korman.

Full 2017-18 Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Season Schedule

MIT, which finished the year ranked fourth on the men’s side and tenth on the women’s side, will square off against three nationally-ranked opponents including Williams College (No. 4 Women, No. 10 Men), NYU (No. 5 Women, No. 7 Men) and Amherst College (No. 7 Women, No. 16 Men).

After competing in their Alumni/ae meet on Saturday, October 21, the Engineers will travel to Springfield College for a NEWMAC dual meet against the Pride on Saturday, November 4. The following Friday, MIT will host its first of four dual meets against Division I Cornell University inside the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool at 5:30 p.m. MIT will round out November with a trip to Division I Brown University on Saturday, November 11 and will welcome WPI and Bowdoin for a meet on November 18.

The second half of the schedule opens with the three-day MIT Winter Invitational which will take place in Cambridge from Friday, December 1 through Sunday, December 3. After the Invite, the Engineers will return to dual meet action against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at home on January 13, travel to Williams College for a meet with the Ephs and NYU, host Division I Boston College and wrap up senior day with a dual at home against Amherst College.

At the end of February, MIT will host the four-day NEWMAC Championship as the men’s team will be competing for their 10th straight title and the women’s team will by vying for their eighth straight No. 1 finish. The Engineers will round out the year in hopes of sending student-athletes to both the NCAA Division Northeast-North Diving Regional, which will take place at Middlebury College on March 2-3, 2018 and the NCAA Division III Championship, which will take place at IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana from March 21-24, 2018.

The Engineers return reigning two-time national runner-up Bouke Edskes (Rockville, Md.), NEWMAC Men’s Rookie and Diver of the Year Sam Solomon (Rockville, Md.) on the men’s side and NEWMAC Women’s Rookie of the Year Kayla Holman (Menlo Park, Calif.) as well as ten-time NCAA All-American senior Jessica Chen(Rockville, Md.) on the women’s team.
