Mt. Airy, North Carolina Middle School Swim Coach Charged With Sex Crimes

Gregory Todd Williams, a former part-time swim coach at the Mount Airy Middle School in North Carolina and coach at STAR Aquatics, has been charged with five counts of “sexual exploitation of a minor,” according to mtairynews.com.

Editor’s Note: The name “Greg Williams” is a fairly common one, so we encourage our readers take extra care in this case, and all cases, before attaching accusations and charges to any specific person that might have the same name.

Williams has been employed by the middle school “sporadically over the last two years” as a swim coach, according to Superintendent Dr. Gregory Little.

The charges against Williams include allegations that he participated in the sharing of sexual images of children on internet file-sharing sites, though police say that they don’t believe that any images of children in the local community were involved.

Williams was also formerly listed as a coach for STAR Aquatics in North Carolina, which listed them as the “Reeves Community Center/ Head Coach.” He no longer appears on that page, but a cached version dated July 11th, 2014 can be seen here.

Updated with information about Williams’ USA Swimming coaching duties.
