NAG Record-Holder Sammie Burchill Pledges Verbal Commitment to Georgia

Sammie Burchill of Carmel Swim Club and Carmel High School has elected to join her sister, Veronica, in Athens, Georgia next year. “I am proud to announce my commitment to the University of Georgia. I chose UGA for its amazing team, coaching staff, and academic opportunities. I really feel like this is the best place for me to excel both in and out of the pool. I’m very excited for what the future holds. Go dawgs!”

Burchill is the reigning Indiana Girls State Championships in the 200 IM and runner-up in the 100 back. In 2015, she and her sister, Veronica Burchill, made up half of the Carmel quartet that broke the national high school record, as well as the national age group record, in the 200 medley relay.

Burchill is also one of the top IMers in the country; she won the 200m IM and placed second in the 400m IM at the Speedo Junior National Championships this past summer. An incredibly versatile swimmer, Burchill is an Olympic Trials qualifier in the 100/200 backstrokes and 200/400 IMs. Her top times include:

  SCY LCM

Good choice! There is absolutely no place you will feel more welcome or reach a higher place (swimming or not).
