Among the national records broken on Saturday evening in Glasgow, Scotland were an Italian Record in the men’s 100 free from Alessandro Miressi, a British Record in the 200 free from Freya Anderson, and a German Record in the 200 free from Annika Bruhn.
Those were among a number of National Records that were broken on the day. Below, see a roundup of the record-breaking efforts from Saturday evening in Glasgow.
- Netherlands’ Kira Toussaint continued a season of record-breaking efforts, bringing her number of national record swims up to almost a dozen in the last 3 months thanks to a 25.75 in the semifinals of the women’s 50 backstroke. She was a touch slower in the final, 25.84, but still held on for gold.
- Also in that women’s 50 back final, French swimmer Beryl Gastaldello broke a National Record for a 3rd-place finish in 26.03, while Italy’s Silvia Scalia broke the Italian Record for a 4th-place finish in 26.22.
- Lisa Mamie broke the Swiss Record in the women’s 100 breaststroke final, placing 6th in 1:05.34. The old record of 1:05.38 also belonged to her from the semifinal.
- Her countrymate Maria Ugolkova broke the Swiss Record in the women’s 200 IM in 2:06.59 to take silver. That crushed her own record of 2:08.40 set at the last edition of this meet in 2017.
- Andreas Vazaios, who has been electric throughout the International Swimming League (ISL) season this year, broke the Greek Record in the 100 IM in 51.75 on Saturday. He held the old record of 52.67 from the 2015 European SC Championships – the 100 IM is not an ISL event.
- His countrymate Anna Ntountounaki also clipped a Greek Record, breaking the mark in the 100 fly with a 57.18. The old record was also hers in 57.42.
- Norwegian 19-year old Tomoe Zenimoto Hvas broke the 7th National Record by his country at this meet when he went 52.00 in the 100 IM to qualify 4th for the final. He has also broken the 50 fly, 100 fly, and 200 IM records at this meet among those 7 records.
- In his 2nd swim of the evening, Duncan Scott broke the Scottish Record in the 100 IM in 52.23. That was after breaking the Scottish Record earlier in the session in the 100 free with a 46.68.
- Spain’s Bruno Ortiz swam a 52.20 in the 100 IM to qualify for the final in 7th. His old best time of 53.33 was done in November of this year at the Spanish Championships. The old record was set in 2009 by Alan Cabello in 52.55.
- Austria’s Bernhard Reitshammer broke a National Record in the semi-final in 52.30, but missed the finals by placing 9th.
- Czech Republic’s Barbora Seemanova broke the National Record in the 200 free with a 1:53.83. The old record belonged to her in 1:54.02.
- Dutch breaststroker Arno Kamminga won the men’s 100 breaststroke for his 2nd gold medal of the meet, after winning the 200 breast. His winning time is 56.06, and he’s now broken all 3 Netherlands breaststroke records at this meet.
- Turkey’s Emre Sakci broke his own National Record in the men’s 100 breaststroke swimming 56.58 for 4th place. That broke his own record of 56.86 set in the semifinals.
- Estonia’s Daniel Zaitsev broke the National Record in the 50 fly with a 22.39. He set the old record of 23.88 in 2017.
