NAU Women, Air Force Men, Take Early Leads at WAC

Day One results

In the women’s 200 medley relay, Northern Arizona got things rolling with a 1:41.45 victory from Sara Lenhoff (26.38), Urte Kazakeviciute (28.58), Alina Staffeldt (23.74), and Roni Houck (22.75). Grand Canyon finished second with 1:41.83.

Grand Canyon got the win in the men’s race, with Mark Nikolaev (21.45), Youssef El Kamash (24.07), Daniil Antipov (20.61), and Illya Glazunov (19.28) combining for 1:25.41, just off the meet record of 1:4130. Air Force took second with 1:26.03, just edging UNLV (1:26.22).

Alexa Geiger and Chelsea Jackson of Northern Arizona swept the top two spots in the women’s 1-meter diving, scoring 302.30 and 287.85 points, respectively. Northern Colorado’s Savanna Meadows took third with 285.60.

In men’s 3-meter diving, Nathaniel Zillweger of Air Force earned the top spot with 360.45 points, ahead of UNLV’s Lucas James (345.00) and Austin Rettinghouse of Wyoming (314.95).

Bakersfield won the women’s 800 free relay (7:18.33) ahead of Northern Arizona (7:19.45) and Grand Canyon (7:23.23).

Day One ended with El Kamash, Jacob Lambros, Lytvenok, and Antipov combining for 6:26.34 to win the men’s 800 free relay ahead of Air Force 6:26.92 and Wyoming (6:30.88).
