The Midshipmen extended the two longest winning streaks in Army-Navy sports history over the weekend, defeating Army in Annapolis. Olympian Rowdy Gaines was on hand to make the experience more special, adding to the meet as the commentator. The Navy women’s team posted its 27th win in a row with a 234.5-65.5 victory, while the Navy men’s squad notched its 25th consecutive victory with a 213-86 win.

The Navy women’s team nearly swept the meet, winning every single event except the 100 backstroke. Navy Freshman Lauren Barber looked incredible as she won all three of her individual events. Her best swim of the meet came in the women’s 200 breaststroke where she and teammate, Ellen Bradford, raced to a 1-2 finish at 2:12.15 and 2:12.47, respectively. Barber also won the 200 freestyle (1:46.84) and the 200 IM (2:00.77). Bradford also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.30, breaking the team and meet record.

Army’s Kelly Hamilton prevented the sweep, winning the women’s 100 backstroke with a time of 54.41, breaking Army’s school record and the meet record by .4.

Madelyn Thompson also had a big swim in the 100 freestyle with a winning time of 49.57.

On the men’s side, the distance freestylers put on show with several impressive swims. Thomas Duvall and Noah Martin raced to the finish of the men’s 500 freestyle, finishing first and second for Navy at 4:17.32 and 4:18.40.

The 1000 freestyle was also fast with Alexander Nickell taking the win for Navy at 9:02.65. Army’s Thomas Ottman finished second with a final time of 9:12.02. The top four swimmers in the event all finished at 9:13.5 or faster.

David Carlson also broke an individual school and meet record for Navy, winning the 100 backstroke with his time of 47.59. Other big swims on the men’s side include Jonathan Debaugh’s 1:44.08 200 fly and Marlin Brutkiewiewicz’s 52.98 100 breaststroke.
