Delaney Walz of the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club has verbally committed to The United States Naval Academy, starting next fall. She is a versatile swimmer, who has made the 2016 Olympic Trials cut in the 200 LCM fly. She has also qualified for Winter Juniors in the 200-yard free, 400-yard IM, 100-yard fly and 200-yard fly.

Walz skipped public high school and has been enrolled in Community College since she was 14. She is the second sibling to join the Patriot League Conference, after her sister swam at Army West Point for two years (2012-14).

Walz best times are:

  • 100-yard fly: 55.14
  • 200-yard fly: 1:58.21
  • 100-yard IM: 1:01.91
  • 200-yard IM: 2:05.38
  • 400-yard IM: 4:22.58
  • 100-yard free: 51.24
  • 200-yard free: 1:49.43
  • 500-yard free: 4:53.68

I was looking for the place where I could become the best person I can be and give back to my country,  and the Naval Academy was undoubtedly the place to do it!  I’m looking forward to becoming a Midshipman! Go Navy! – Walz

Last season, Walz’s best 200-yard fly time would have made the NCAA ‘B’ cut standard and she would have been the 2015 Patriot League champion in that event. She would have also made an impact for the Midshipmen in other events at conference. Her best times in the 100-yard fly, 200-yard free and 500-yard free would have placed her in the A final with 3rd, 3rd and 4th place finishes respectively.
