“I was really happy with the way the team competed and raced today,” said Navy men’s swimming head coach Bill Roberts.  “Though we always want to be a little faster with our times, they were very good with how they swam their races.  In addition, I was very pleased with the energy and enthusiasm they brought to the day.  They were fully engaged from beginning to end, which was great too.

“Also, I want to highlight our divers, who did a terrific job today as well.”

“I was very pleased with the way we performed,” said Navy women’s swimming head coach John Morrison.  “Thanks to our three visiting teams, we had some strong competition to help us move our team forward.  We were very happy with the shared success of our depth, as that helped to separate us from the field.  I also was very pleased with our learning since the our last meet.  We saw the focus of our practices really begin to show in the racing.  We are looking forward to doing the same over the next two weeks.”

Lauren WalshMackenzie Kim and Maya Novack each won two events for the Navy women’s team.  Walsh won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:03.12 and the 400 individual medley with an effort of 4:27.26.  Kim swept the two diving events with scores of 274.85 on the one-meter board and 284.95 in the three-meter event.  Novack claimed both sprint freestyle events with times of 23.77 in the 50 free and 51.25 in the 100 free.

Blakeman Shaw matched Kim’s effort in winning both diving events as he won the one-meter event with a score of 367.45 and the three-meter board with a tally of 363.10.  Luca Oliva won the first and last individual events of the men’s meet.  He initially won the 1000 free in a time of 9:25.49 and then won the 400 individual medley with an effort of 359.33.  Jonah Harm also earned two first-place finishes on the day as he won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 55.05 and the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.75.  Completing the list of multiple event winners was Ben Irwin, who placed first in the 100 backstroke (49.13) and 200 backstroke (1:47.98).
