The NC State swimming and diving team hosted its annual team banquet Saturday night where it celebrated its historic 2016-17 season.
The team gathered with friends and family to recognize and honor the accomplishments achieved during one of its most successful campaigns in program history. The men’s season was highlighted by a tremendous post-season, where the team won its third-straight ACC title and tied its highest ever NCAA finish, placing fourth. The women’s squad clinched its first ACC title since 1980, ending Virginia’s nine year streak, and placed seventh at the NCAA championships to earn its highest finish ever.
The coaching staff also announced the team captains for the 2017-18 season. Courtney Caldwell, Krista Duffield and Bailey Revels were selected to lead the women’s program, while Ryan Held, Hennessey Stuart and Quinlan Stuart were chosen as the men’s team captains for next season.

An amazing year. Congratulations to the swimmers, divers. coaches and staff!
Successfull? They got fourth
Behind Texas, Cal, and Florida. Not to mention that they had an individual relay victory.
Yes, extremely successful. Highest team finish without an individual winner. Highest team finish of combined programs. Yes a fourth place finish without a top notch recruit. Yes a 4th place finish displacing Stanford, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, USC, Indiana, Arizona. An 800 free relay that blew everyone away, breaking multiple records. An tremendous year to say the least. Next year its Cal and NC State for the national title.
Yeah they didn’t even get an individual winner, such trash.
No one but Texas is allowed to celebrate, even if people on other teams swam best times, broke school records, or placed higher than before. Now, this also means that John Shebat cannot celebrate his individual swims this year, since he got second to Ryan Murphy. He can only celebrate for the team and his relay contributions, but not his individuals because he failed.
