January 26th, 2017 ACC, College

The No. 3/9 NC State swimming and diving team is set to return home this weekend for its last two dual meets of the regular season. The Wolfpack will host RV/RV UNC-Chapel Hill Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 13/5 Virginia Saturday at 4 p.m.

Both meets will be contested inside Casey Aquatic Center, as live results and video will be available.
This weekend marks the first time NC State’s men has faced a conference opponent this season, as the team remains undefeated with a 3-0 record.  The women’s team faced Duke in October and earned a 177-123 win on the road, and are 2-1 (1-0 ACC) on the year with its only loss against top-ranked Texas.

Last Time Out

Select swimmers from the program competed in the Arena Pro Swim Series in Austin, Texas, Jan. 13-15. The squad earned a total of 13 podium finishes over the three-day meet inside UT’s Texas Swim Center, including distance standout Anton Ipsen’s two gold medals.

The diving team saw action on Jan. 21 in a tri-meet at UNCW with Gardner-Webb, collecting eight top-three finishes and three season-best marks inside the Seahawk Natatorium.

Pack In The Polls

NC State continues its streak of sitting among the top 10 of the national polls, as the men’s team checks in at No. 3 and the women’s squad sits at No. 9 in the latest College Coaches of America (CSCAA) rankings, released Jan. 18.

Both the men’s and women’s teams have remained among the top 10 of the national polls for the entire 2016-17 season, as this marks the longest streak both programs have done so.

Among the ACC the men’s team continues to hold the highest listing while the women are second in the conference behind the Cavaliers.

Scouting UNC-CH

Both Tar Heel teams hold a 1-4 (0-2 ACC) record heading into the weekend. In UNC-CH’s last time out the men fell 170-130 and the women lost 173.5-121.5 to Virginia.

Both squads are receiving votes in the latest national poll.

Scouting Virginia

After defeating conference foe UNC-CH last weekend, Virginia’s women hold a perfect 6-0 (4-0 ACC) ledger and the men are 5-1 (4-0 ACC) heading into the final weekend of regular season competition.

The women’s squad checked in at No. 5 in the latest national poll and the men are 13th.
