Quoting The Coaches
Swimming
“It was great for Wisconsin to come down here and give us some new competition. They gave us some quality racing and helped with the team environment this weekend,” said head coach Braden Holloway. “I’m very happy with where our team is. I think they came in this morning with the same passion and intensity as yesterday and didn’t back down. They wanted to walk out of here making a statement and did that.

“On the women’s side our depth has gotten a lot better. We’re moving up and grabbing the second and third places. Our senior leadership was outstanding this weekend and hats off to them leading this program to a win. On the men’s side this weekend showed where we are, we had a lot of freshmen make their collegiate debuts and came in firing on all cylinders. It elevated our entire program today.

“There are areas that can be improved and cleaned up, but that’s what these meets are for – and we need to concentrate on those places on a daily basis so we’re not constantly making those mistakes.”

Diving
“Today was a coming out party for James (Brady) with winning the three-meter event,” said head diving coach Yahya Radman. “We just never woke up on the men’s side. Harrison (Mitchell) and Stewart (Spanbauer) struggled first thing this morning, and so our goal moving forward is not being complacent.

“On the women’s side our freshmen showed tremendous consistency and we know now what needs to be focused on for the next meet. I’m very excited about the future of both programs.”

Well after Indiana woopin up on Texas today, yes no Schooling and Licon, I would have to say that NC State would probably get them. NO way they beat Cal or Georgia in a duel meet.

Georgia? You’re funny…. They beat them at NCAA and they’d beat them at dual. Georgia can’t hang with NC State in all free events, relays, back, and sprint breast.

Must agree with swimmer. Georgia swims fast in season, look at their results from North Carolina. Yes NC State would get them in the sprints. But also would have been swept by Indiana in the sprints. CLEARLY not as strong as a sprint group as last year. State is good, but I think they are over hyped this year. SwimSwam loves to hype them up the entire time and I’m not sure why.

I agreed they would have been swept. However, Indiana swam the defending champion… You’ll bet they throw down the fastest times in season. I wouldn’t judge Nc State’s sprint crew based on this past weekend… Let’s wait until Texas meet (true challenge). Have you seen Nc State pool before? If you have, you’d believe me when I say this is not their best performance of the season…

I have not seen NC State’s pool before so will have to take your word on that, but I would disagree with you about Indiana swimming their fastest times of the season. They swam very well, but I think 2 things happened. One they have a better team than people think and that Texas has some significant holes this year as far as depth goes and in the sprints unless they are truly just absolutely 100% exhausted and those sprinters will come back to life on taper.

Yeah if you know anything about IUs program they are tired right now. Coach Looze works them hard.

I guess we’ll see who win more NCAA titles at the end of the season 🙂 as far as I know, NC State won 1 last year and top 2 in 2 other free relays. Until I see ‘results’ from Indiana sprint crew in March, I would still put NC State’s sprint above them.

Also, 2 relays at 2:57 on October… I’d say that’s pretty good.

In the average dual meet is there anyone the NC men would for sure lose to? California, Texas in season are not known to race like NC state in season.

Well NC State swam Texas AND Cal in season last year. And they are racing Texas again this year. Holloway is doing a great job challenging his team with a tough schedule

Texas and Stanford both beat the NCSU men last year. I think Texas would probably still win, and Cal may win as well, but outside of that I think State has a shot against every other top program in the country in a dual.

NC state is good. Maybe not quite Texas good, but heads and shoulders above rest of ACC
