NC State Reels in Another Verbal for 2023: Versatile Kay Foley Joins the Fray

Kay Foley of Munster, Indiana is the latest to send her verbal commitment to Raleigh, joining a future North Carolina State University class of 2023 that also includes verbal commits Elle Giesler, Faith Hefner and Maddy Flickinger.

Foley is a junior at Munster High School. She won the 500 free (4:48.02 in prelims) at the 2018 IHSAA Girls Swimming/Diving Championship in February, and was involved in all 48 points the Mustangs scored. In addition to her 500 free victory, Foley finished third in the 200 free (1:47.68 in prelims) and anchored the 11th-place 200 free relay (23.54).

Foley has swum for Munster Swim Club since she was 7 years old and currently trains under head coach Matt Lee. After going best times in the 100/200/500 free during the Indiana High School State Meet, she followed up a month later with PBs in the 1000/1650 free, 200 breast, 100/200 fly, and 400 IM at 2018 Indiana Swimming Senior Short Course Championships.

A Winter Juniors qualifier or better in the 200/500/1000 free, 100/200 fly, 200 breast, and 400 IM, her top SCY times are:

  • 200 free – 1:47.68
  • 500 free – 4:48.02
  • 1000 free – 10:02.27
  • 1650 free – 16:50.98
  • 100 fly – 55.65
  • 200 butterfly – 2:01.34
  • 200 breast – 2:16.69
  • 400 IM – 4:20.35
