The NC State swimming & diving team is set to continue its dual season with a two-day meet at Minnesota beginning Friday, Jan. 24, following a two-week break from competition. The meet is slated to begin at 7 p.m. ET. and will continue on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. ET.
“We’re excited to head up to Big Ten country to take on a very strong opponent,” said head coach Braden Holloway. “We believe in order to move up in the NCAA, we need to compete against the best and Minnesota has proven to be great year in and year out.”
The Wolfpack men enter the meet with a 4-3 overall record, while the women’s squad owns 6-2 ledger for the season. The men’s squad re-entered the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll on Wednesday as the No. 21 team in the country.
Last time out, the men’s team posted a 166-101 win over Villanova, while the women’s team captured a 175-104 decision. Overall, State captured 25 of 28 individual titles, while 20 different student-athletes posted a victory.
Minnesota enters this weekend’s meet currently listed 14th in the country on the men’s side with a 5-1 record, while the women’s squad holds a 6-0 record for the season and a No. 13 ranking.
“Minnesota has no weak areas and will create a great challenge,” Holloway said. “With both of their swim teams in the top 15, we’ll need to perform well to create an opportunity. It will be a great chance for our women to see the pool where NCAA’s will be held in two months.”
