200 FREE RELAY:
- NC State- 1:27.50
- Virginia- 1:28.45
- UNC- 1:28.63
The NC State women capped off a successful Thursday night finals session at ACCs with a huge win in the 200 free relay. The team of Riki Bonnema, Ashlyn Koletic, Natalie Labonge, and Krista Duffield charged to a 1st place finish and a new school and ACC record of 1:27.50.
“They love that relay. They take a lot of pride in protecting that relay. To win it 4 years in a row is pretty impressive,” said head coach Braden Holloway. For the first time, NC State women had someone on the podium in every event at finals. They also broke school records in almost every event.
Rachel Muller and Hannah Moore were under the previous school record in the 500, with more taking 3rd in 4:38.53. Bonnema and Alexia Zevnik each grabbed a silver in the 50 free and 200 IM, respectively. Zevnik’s 1:56.02 was also a school record.
The women currently sit in 2nd place, 45 points behind Virginia, heading into day 3. Check out the video below to see some of the NC State women’s highlights from Night 2 at the ACC championships.
Braden recruited me to Virginia Tech way back in the day. He’s a fabulous person & so happy to see his team at NC State doing so well!!
