North Carolina State’s Simonas Bilis earned his second-straight ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week honor, while Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell claimed the women’s award.
Bilis won 4 times for the second consecutive week, this time going undefeated against Georgia Tech and Florida State. His winning 200 free time of 1:36.52 now leads the NCAA, and he also won the 50 and 100 frees individually.
Worrell had a great week as well, picking up a runaway 100 fly win at the week’s premier meet, the Quad at Michigan, which featured Texas, Indiana, Louisville and the host Wolverines. Worrell’s 100 fly time of 53.46 was almost a full second faster than second-place, and she also added runner-up finishes in the 50 and 100 frees.
Virginia’s JB Kolod was named ACC Male Diver of the Week. The Cavalier broke both school and pool records in Virginia’s battle with Navy Friday night. Winning on both boards, Kolod smashed school and pool records on 3-meter, plus a school record on 1-meter.
In-state rival Virginia Tech picked up the Female Diver of the Week award with Kaylea Arnett. Competing on the road against Duke and North Carolina in back-to-back days, Arnett won three diving events and put up NCAA Zone-qualifying scores in all four of her contests. She took home 1-meter in both meets, and added the 3-meter title on Saturday against Duke.
