NCAA Host Georgia Tech Releases 2015-2016 Schedule

THE FLATS – Four home weekends and serving as the host site of the 2016 NCAA Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships highlight Georgia Tech’s 2015-2016 schedule released Tuesday.

Georgia Tech opens the 2015-16 season on Friday, Oct. 2, against Penn State and Liberty. Two weeks later, the Jackets travel north to face West Virginia (Oct. 16) and ACC rival Pittsburgh (Oct. 17). They then will return to home to the Peach State to face in-state rival Georgia (Nov. 4) in Athens before hosting the three-day GT Invite on Nov. 19-21.

During their winter training sessions in December, the Jackets are scheduled to compete against Cincinnati. The date has not been determined at this time.

It’ll be a quick turnaround to start the new year as Georgia Tech faces four opponents at home, beginning with a Jan. 16 quad-meet against Michigan, Indiana and Duke. After a Jan. 23 road meet at Alabama, the Jackets return home to host Emory on Jan. 30 for Senior Day/Parents Weekend.

Following a two-week break from the end of the regular season, Georgia Tech will travel to Greensboro, N.C., for the 2016 ACC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships held Feb. 17-20 and the ACC Men’s Swimming Championships held Feb. 24-27.

Georgia Tech will host a two-day NCAA Qualifier on March 5-6 before NCAA Zone Qualifying rounds are held March 7-9.

For the second time in program history, Georgia Tech and the CRC will serve as the host site for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. The Women’s Championships will be held March 16-19, followed by the Men’s Championships March 23-26. Georgia Tech previously hosted the 2007 NCAA Championships and the CRC was also the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics swimming and diving competitions.

Admission to all home Georgia Tech swimming events are free and open to the public. Home events are held at the GT Aquatic Center located inside the Campus Recreation Center (CRC).
